My, my how the years can change a man, and this is what I’ve settled into. Well, I wouldn’t change a single thing. You think that I’ve been messin’ ‘round, but I’m just trying to get my feet down. This jalopy, it is fishtailing. If you don’t wanna slide, don’t hit the brakes; just ride it out. Well, well you say you love me sometimes, and I guess that’ll have to do for now. It can’t be roses all the time. If you think I haven’t been listening, I just haven’t thought of something clever to say. Maybe I’ll just go for a drive. I feel alive tonight! I feel alive! Even if I die tonight, that’d be alright.

Waving like the Queen of England. So desperately condescending. Growing prouder but not more intelligent. This ain’t no storybook ending. All we know is, it’s gone on far too long. Everything is hitting close to home. Wave goodbye to all your freedoms. Mind your own, keep to yourself. Don’t bother writing it down, call it in. Leave all the thinking to someone else.

I feel like a satellite that fell out of orbit in a cool and cosmic sky. Trying to find a place to crash tonight, and all my enemies will be glad to know that my death is truly inevitable. When we go, we go alone to die. Underneath this well-lit sky, these lonesome stars illuminate my flight. Hope it never really exists. When the atmosphere hits, we’re going to burn out fast, and every single second might be the last. Say goodbye to innocence. I’m not trying to make sense of any of it. I’m not trying to make sense. You left us here so lonesome we got swept away in the debris. What we have, it don’t mean shit. It’s evident.

I walk in just a little too late. The weight in the air is making it a little too hard to concentrate. Stated boldly, “What’s done is done. Right or wrong, it’s where I’m coming from.” So, take a deep breath and let it all sink in. We all fall down but get back up again! Some things will never change. They stay the same, but still, we push our way through. I never have, and I never will, stood aside, when I could speak the truth to you. Big talk with no spine. Plea for change. Plea for time.

Let the smoke seep under my retinas and separate them from my eyes, to blind me from the atrocities I might find. Let this song tear into my eardrums, like a pack of mangy hounds. Then, the silence will finally overrun the sounds. The words mean nothing. Actions mean a little less. I digress… This town lays soft and silent, like I’m sifting through a dream. It’s finally affording me some time to think. Then, the sirens always wail again, at this time of the night. It’s reminding us of our all heavy plight. The words mean nothing. Actions mean a little less. I detest… Everything you say to me in crowded bars and on crooked streets. Everything you’re saying, it doesn’t make much sense. It’s not making sense to me…

Sometimes I get so excited. Hung out to dry or to dry out. This ship doesn’t feel so sturdy. It always feels like we’re going down. So, lower the lifeboats, or go out with the waves. It’s just how everything goes these days. Gather you’re loved ones, making sure that they’re safe. If you see the Captain, be sure to wave. I shall remain in this watery grave!

Cheers! 02:03
Like an angel with his wings cut off, you came from the darkness to turn the lights back on. Ever present with the right words, you always knew just what to say to get us moving on along. Cigarettes and beer under the stars, on the back roads where you reigned supreme. Moonlit heroes from the old rail tracks SCREAMING! ‘Right or wrong’ don’t mean a thing unless you believe in something CHEERS TO YOU! An outlaw who hung his guns up to prove that he could still shoot straight, tired of being chased by ghosts. We listened because you’d been there, but there ain’t no honest men left. You were born too late and you died too young. There’s an empty seat at the bar in this hole in the wall where you used to sit and tell us stories from your past. I remember the man not the legend!

Unsuspected and overlooked, can’t place where it’s from. When the ones that you never count on are propping you up. Though it doesn’t matter, I think that it does. It falls onto your armor causing you to rust. Sitting here with some time to kill and friends for a pint. I spend hours indulging my vices and finding it’s trite. With this drink my hand. Words on the tip of my tongue. You know I’d tell you a story, if I could find a breath in these lungs. You’re searching for the answers you know you’ll never find. What am I waiting for? I’ve got so much shit to get done. Your life will pass with no questions asked. Before you know it, your time is up What am I waiting for? I’ve got so much shit to do. The odds are stacked against us boys. You know we’re bound to lose. Unsuspected and overlooked, can’t place where it’s from. When the ones that you never count on are propping you up. Though it doesn’t matter, I think that it might. Well, you can go out with all of your friends or stay with me tonight. What am I waiting for? I’ve got so much shit to get done. Your life will pass with no questions asked. Before you know it, your time is up What am I waiting for? I’ve got so much shit to do. The bars are closing, so drink up, boys. You know we’re bound to lose. And you’ve been waiting to long……..

It’s like a bad, bad joke because I’ve got everything I could ever want sitting right in front of me. I see it dangling by the thinnest of threads. It leaves you set right up to fall face first. It’ll go from bad to worse. Because I’ve got the drive, I’m just lacking direction. I’ve got a thirst for salvation rooted in desperation. I feel it slipping away. It’s like a bad, bad dream where I’ll lose everything before I wake up. It leaves you set right up to fall face first. It’ll go from bad to worse. Opportunity doesn’t come a knocking! I’d carry you, but you’ll have to carry me now because I broke my foot in the door. Rejection is something that never stopped us before.
